Nolan Reardon died on Tuesday morning.

He had a seizure while sleeping and passed away. Just like that. He had an appointment on Tuesday to have some tests done, but he never woke up. He had four seizures since last February, and this one took his life.

He was a junior at Glencoe. I didn’t honestly know him that well, but Katie was one of my best friends during my senior year. I remember going over to her house and Nolan would be there, just hanging out with Katie. She loved him so much. They had a great brother/sister relationship. Her entire family is solid. I love all of them, and I feel absolutely sick that this could happen.

Nolan’s memorial service will be held at Glencoe tomorrow (Friday the 23rd) at 4:00 pm. The doors will open at 3:30, and there will be cards and things to sign that will go to the family. There will be a few speakers and then an open mic for anyone who would like to share something about Nolan. His family would like everyone who can to wear their letterman’s jackets because Nolan loved sports, especially track. In fact, donations will go to the Glencoe track team.

I’m going to be there for sure, and it would be great to have a big show of support for the family.

This is just another weird blow to the Glencoe community in this crazy year. First was the whole Paul Grillo deal, then Blake Tufts (who I didn’t actually know) died in some sort of accident… now Nolan.

I don’t know what to do or think.

I called Katie tonight to see how she was holding up, and it was just surreal. She’s ordinarily so positive, upbeat, energetic… but she sounded broken on the phone. I wanted to be there and do more for her than I felt like I could. She said next week she’s planning on having people over to the house because she’s worried about her parents, and she thinks having a full house would help. I hope so.

Please please PLEASE make sure that your thoughts and prayers are with the family during this season. Everyone is going to miss him so dearly… He was a great kid. Rest in peace, Nolan.

“Children – wake up. Hold your mistake up, before they turn the summer into dust.
If the children don’t grow up, our bodies get bigger, but our hearts get torn up.
We’re just a million little gods causing rain storms – turning every good thing to rust.”

I just tested out of French!

That’s two 4-credit classes I won’t be taking next year! Yes!

Thank you, Madame Hughes!
